Don't Go Back Sacless

Don't Go Back Sacless
2009's Back To School Poster

Dads and Grads Get Inked

Dads and Grads Get Inked
This poster was designed to promote our tattooed Sac.

Probably my favorite poster we have created to date. This very simple idea really had the response we were looking for during Father's Day. We took this tattoo design and stitched it on a Sac cover. The tattoo was designed by Shawn's cousin, Alex Hinton, a tattoo artist in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Check out Shawn's Blog for comments and feedback.

Moms LoveSac Too

Moms LoveSac Too
The Mother's Day 2009 window poster.

For Mother's Day 2009 we offered the Mom's Blanket, pictured above. This blanket is custom designed for LoveSac by our product developer Spencer Pearson. My objective was to create a stereotypical "mom" environment that showed our product being great for pregnant moms, too. This was a tough campaign to create. I am a fan of tight shots that capture tons of detail. In order to show the mom enjoying the product meant I had to give up my tight shot. After having several ideas shot down by my Creative Director, I finally came up with this one. It's nothing terribly special but it shows the mom enjoying a nap while the entire kitchen is on fire from the dinner she is cooking for the family.

Shawn started posting the window posters on his blog to get your feedback. He has really established a standard that gives us outstanding feedback from you. According to your opinion, this image is extremely sexist. Our goal was not to be sexist, but to catch your attention. I think we were successful. To read all the opinions of the LoveSacer's check out Shawn's Blog.

Here it is! The Easter promotional poster is finished. This poster will sit in the window of all 25 LoveSac stores located in malls across the United States. Look for it starting February 15th. Thank you to everyone that helped me pull this together. Hopefully this will get people into our stores. The rest is up to our sales team.

The LoveSac Bus

The LoveSac Bus
The new LoveSac Bus design, just minutes after they completed it.

Check out the design of the new LoveSac Bus. Originally, I had until sometime in January to have it designed, but that all changed on Wednesday, December 24th. Yep, Christmas Eve. Shawn called and asked me if I could finish the bus by 10am Monday morning because he decided he wanted the new design for a series of events- CES Blogger Party, Sundance Film Festival, Winter XGames and the Superbowl. Normally, this would not have been a problem, but I was planning on spending the weekend in New Hampshire visiting family. If I went I would have been locked in a room the entire time working. Plus, my suitcase was still missing from my San Fran/San Diego trip that got me home on Tuesday morning. So, I stayed home to work and wait for my suitcase's arrival. The finished bus wrap is the end result of my Christmas week labor.

Dad's or Grad's Package?

Dad's or Grad's Package
Which would you rather have, the Dad's Package or the Grad's Package?

I just stumbled upon this jpg from last year's 'Dad's or Grad's' promotion. This window poster is also from my very first photo shoot with LoveSac. It was very overwhelming trying to organize the shoot and make sure that I had everything and did everything correctly. They seem so much easier now! Fortunately, it all worked out and ran smoothly. This image was slightly modified to fit on the web. I will post the correct version soon.

LoveSac Loves His Mother Earth

The LoveSac Shopping Bag HangTag
Full of LoveSac Humor.

Above is a hangtag that I designed for the LoveSac shopping bag. I actually designed this while I was still working from home in New Hampshire. This was my first glimpse of LoveSac humor. Click on the hangtag to blow up the image.

Flying Bird Treehouse, Inc.

Flying Bird Treehouse, Inc.
Logo, Business Card, Letterhead and Envelope

Flying Bird Treehouse, Inc. creates handmade, antique-looking birdhouses. I based the design of their identity on a whimsical poem and gave the entire piece an aged look by deconstructing the logo and adding some warmth to the blue sky. The words of the poem trail the bird like wind and bring life to this monochromatic piece.

Forisha MedSpa from my Portfolio

Forisha MedSpa
Logo, Business Card, Letterhead and Envelope

Forisha MedSpa had a challenging problem trying to illustrate the difference between their spa and that of the competition. They specialize in the medical aspect of their spa and wanted to visually communicate this “clinical” dynamic. In direct contrast to this, they also wanted to show the “organic” nature of the business. I built the logo using clinical elements, added texture to represent the organic aspect and used earth tones to unify the contrasting looks.

Other Comfy Stuff by LoveSac

LovePuppy
LoveSac is designing a stuffed animal puppy that will be available for purchase sometime early next year.

Other Comfy Stuff is a line of pillows, blankets, slippers and a few other things that will be available for purchase early next year. Above is a sample of what the OCS campaign art will look like. This piece of art is a 4"x4" hang tag cut in a diamond shape. There are about six different products in the line, a few also come in a variety of fabrics.

Show Her Some Love

Rock Her Socks Off
The new Valentine's Day theme

I just finished the Valentine's Day art. We ran out of time to squeeze in a photo shoot so, like Christmas, we are relying on a design-centered look. I used a few stock graphics this time to help meet the deadline but you probably wouldn't recognize anything I used. Everything was modified to some extent. The "Rock Her Socks Off" theme is referring to three packages that we are offering this promotion— the PillowSac Rocker with three custom covers to choose from. They will be available around the first week of January.

Eskimo Phur KidSac

Kids LoveSac
Elena Marlene Clark as a fairy princess

During the "Dad's and Grad's" photo shoot last spring, we took some time to shoot a few stock photos. One of the stock concepts incorporated Lanie, my daughter, dressed up as a princess. I mean fairy. Hmmm... maybe a little of both? We posed her in an Eskimo Phur KidSac. She was a little shy at first, but got the hang of it once Shawn started to dance like a monkey. Soon she was using her "magic" wand to shoot pixy dust at him. This 24"x36" poster is hanging in 5 or 6 stores right now, as part of the new store concept, and will be in another 2 or 3 by the end of the year. At some point Lanie will be in every LoveSac store as permanent art. Isn't she so cute?

FarmerTan

FarmerTan
Alain Ackerman as "The Fried Gamer."

I stumbled upon our summer window poster today, so I thought I would post it. The summer promotion was for our new GamerSac called "FarmerTan". Since it was summer, it was only fitting to give a skinny nerd a nasty sunburn. The story was something about a gamer going outside for the first time, mid-summer, for just a few minutes and getting totally fried. Then, in serious pain, he goes back to his game play on our Black and Tan GamerSac Package. Alain Ackerman modeled for us and was a great sport. We made him strip down to his underwear, duct taping his underwear hole (of course), then painted him for 2 hours in makeup. We owe Alain's look to the awesome makeup artist, Debbie, and the wizard-behind-the-curtain photographer, Roger Hagadone.

The package is still available for a limited time here and comes with a SpeakerSac. They are set at a $199 blow-out price to make room for the Christmas packages that will be in stores today. We are also offering FREE SHIPPING on everything for a limited time.

Christmas Confusion

Love Comes in Chocolate
This is the 5'x5' poster hanging in the front window of each of our 25 locations. It changes to a new theme each holiday season. I will post some of the best past designs soon.

Merry (early!) Christmas. It's a change of pace designing for retail. Campaigns are designed so early that it seems to play tricks on my mind at times. So with the Christmas campaign designed, printed and up in all of the LoveSac stores as of November 3rd, I am already planning the photo shoot for Valentine's Day. It almost feels like Christmas is over. To add to the "Christmas Confusion", Shawn passed out our company Christmas gifts today. He wanted to be there to see us get them because he leaves for his Frontline Tour tonight. Anyone interested in getting some LoveSac gear should check out that link. He is giving away a $50 gift card to the first few people that visit him in each store location of the tour.

T-Shirt Designs

I have been trying to figure out what my first post on my new blog would be all day. I finally figured it out. V2W.com is no longer running and I didn't receive my last commission check nor the $500 for winning their final battle. I figure they don't own the rights to my shirts anymore because they didn't hold up their end of the contract. I am posting all the shirts I designed and posted at V2W.com. I would like to find someone to print these for me. Does anyone know of an inexpensive screen printer? I would love to figure out a way to sell them. Let me know if you would like one and what size and I will do some research.

V2W.com
I designed this for V2W.com and won first place but did not receive payment.

Buffalo Wings
Just a fun design. I almost missed the design deadline and had to design this one in about 30 min.

Expressionless
I really like the way this one came out. It didn't win but got honorable mention. I have a print of it but the shirt was a little too bright. The next round will be closer to a navy blue.

Aligned For Nanie
This is my favorite shirt. I designed this around the same time my daughter, Lanie, started calling herself Nanie. This is the only other shirt I designed that didn't win or get honorable mention. I'm sure it was because it didn't mean anything to anybody.

Break'n Oldskool
This was a tribute to my break'n days. I actually created my first campaign for LoveSac in this style for the LoveSac Theatre but the theatre owners thought it was too young for their audience so we ended up redesigning the campaign. This shirt also received honorable mention.

SD Roots
This was the first shirt I submitted to V2W. It won first place and sold more copies than any of the other shirts I designed. I started the design while I was teaching at Coleman College. They had a contest for Comic-Con in San Diego. The shirt that won would be produced by Coleman to help advertise the school at Comic-Con. They changed the rules last minute adding that only students could submit. So I decided to change the theme up and submit it to V2W instead. Glad I did.
